Zoom zoom. Except for Mazda, no other automaker can be summed up by such a minimal phrase, and that can be attributed to the brand’s passion for enthusiasm across its entire lineup starting with the early rotary engine vehicles it launched upon arriving in the U.S. market in 1970. Although Mazda doesn’t currently offer a rotary engine, Mazda still manages to produce exciting vehicles – from its smallest, budget-minded cars to its expanding lineup of family-friendly crossovers – largely thanks to the SkyActiv suite of vehicle technologies.
SkyActiv was first introduced on two of Mazda’s most important vehicles: the Mazda3 and the Mazda CX-5. The benefits of SkyActiv include smaller, lighter turbocharged engines, advanced transmission options and lightweight chassis components. With the launch of the new Mazda CX-9 crossover, the entire Mazda lineup will offer these class-leading features. The new CX-9 is the finishing touch on a completely revamped lineup that started in 2013 with compact CX-5. Mazda just recently introduced the subcompact CX-3 crossover bringing the traditional Mazda sportiness to a segment that is growing rapidly.
Of course, the most iconic Mazda around is the Mazda MX-5 Miata, which debuted last year with a more dynamic styling to go with the same level of driving enjoyment for which this roadster is known. Rounding off the current lineup are the Mazda6 sedan and the Mazda3, which is available as a sedan or hatchback. Mazda will continue to have a six-car lineup that ranges in price from the $17,845 Mazda3 sedan up to around the $30,000 mark for the all-new CX-9.
